State prosecutors at the High Court have filed new accusations against Patience Botwe, the housemaid of former Minister for Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and seven other people who are suspected of stealing different amounts from her residence.
They are charged with pilfering assets and a variety of cash amounts, including $1 million and 300,000 euros.
They have been in front of the Circuit Court while investigations have been going on since July 6 of this year.
A new charge sheet has been presented at the High Court, police prosecutor DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye told the court at today's hearing [Wednesday, November 1].
He said that the matter would be removed from the Circuit Court and the High Court procedures will begin as soon as a hearing date is set.
In order for the prosecution to remove the matter from the Circuit Court, the case was postponed until November 8, 2023. All defendants appeared in court, with the exception of the eighth defendant, who is still at large.
Patience Botwe and the other seven individuals are facing preliminary accusations of conspiracy, receiving something dishonestly, and other associated offences.
